CBC was interested in a fresh new look for The National brand. We began with the first controversial move into the 21st century for the format: asking Peter Mansbridge to leave the desk chair – standing up to deliver the news. Then we created a completely new set, featuring bold, bright graphics based on the glowing art pieces of Dan Flavin, building a floating Plexiglas environment that continues throughout on-air segments and brings an active, modern flair.
